JUNIOR LEADER MEETING
We have our regularly scheduled Junior Leader meeting at 7:30pm this Tuesday.

PHILMONT TREKKERS BACK
Our Philmont Crew has returned and had a wonderful time in Cimmaron New Mexico. I have asked for a first-hand account from them to be posted for the Troop’s enjoyment, will post it when available. This could not have happened without the help and participation of two very special people. First, Mr. Doug Carty who stepped up to lead the boys on this trip when it became apparent no one else would… we owe a huge thanks to Doug. And second, Rick Kocurek, who spend endless hours coordinating the logistics of the trip, paperwork and finances, and everything else involved. Our sincere gratitude and thanks to Rick and Doug for making this dream possible for the boys.

EMERGENCY PREPARDEDNESS/ FIRE SAFETY MERIT BADGES
To all interested Scouts, we will be conducting a two day Merit Badge Practicum for Emergency Preparedness / Fire Safety Merit Badges. If you successfully prepare, complete all the requirements and attend the entire session you will be able to earn both of the Merit Badges. The key will be your preparation. Requirements to attend are that you are a current First-Class scout or higher, and, have earned First Aid Merit Badge. Participation will be limited to five to eight Scouts. If you want to attend, you need to email Mr. Modruson to confirm your participation [see 8/1 email for email address].

The course will be held at Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Station #2 at 681 Taft Ave in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, September 18 from Noon until 7PM and Sunday, September 19 – 8AM until 3PM. You must be present for both sessions. Please be prompt in arriving, since there is a lot to cover. Wear a Troop 41 Class C t-shirt or shirt and jeans. Contact information for that weekend during the event can be found in the 8/1/2010 email.

If you intend on doing the badges, you need to do following prior to the September 18/19:

1. Read Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety Merit Badge pamphlets entirely. You will not be successful in completing the badges if you have not done this prior to the event.
2. Review the attached requirements list and bring completed all the requirements that are marked “Complete prior and bring to Practicum”. If a signature is required from your parents, you will need to bring that with you as well.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Modruson by email prior to the event.
BEN P. EAGLE PROJECT AUGUST 8TH
From Ben P:
As most of you know I have been working on my eagle project. I am reorganizing and restocking the supply room for PADS at First Congregational Church. The purpose of this message is to ask for your help in the completion of the project. The date for the completion of the project is August 8 from 12 to 6. We will be meeting in the same room we meet for scout meetings. If you could please either email me or call/text me to tell me if you can make it and the time you can be there. All help is greatly appreciated. Do not feel like you need to spend the whole six hours any amount of time is helpful. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. The activities we will be completing include cleaning the wall and carpet in the store room, assembling new shelving and organizing donations into new containers. Snacks will be provided. PADS is in need of much help to get ready for the fall and this project will help the get organized to serve the homeless the depend on them for help. Your time is needed Sunday but in addition we will continue to accept any further donation of these items either this week at my house or bring them to the project date.
