MISSING ITEM FROM OWASIPPE
Did anyone come across a 3 pronged blue camping stool at Owasippee?  One of our scouts is missing it, please let me know if you have it.

REI LABOR DAY SALE
REI is having a Labor Day sale, you can save up to 30% on selected hiking, camping and cycling gear! Sale starts today, August 27 and continues until September 6th.

SEPTEMBER CAMPOUT DEADLINE AUGUST 24th
Our next campout is September 11th and 12th, our annual Bike Trip from Glen Ellyn to Pratt’s Wayne Woods in Wayne.  We will use our compasses on the ride and navigate, we’ll do individual cooking where you bring your own food and cook it (no Pop Tarts) and we’ll open up our camp to family and friends for an “Open House” in the late afternoon so that they can see how we roll, or camp.  The deadline for the Bike Trip was August 24, 2010, if you want to go and have not yet contacted me, what are you waiting for?

OCTOBER CAMPOUT (VENUE CHANGE)
We still do not have any information on where our October campout will be, we are looking into two options and will let you know as soon as we can.  As you know, our October 8-10th trip to Maquoketa Caves State Park has been cancelled.  We are currently reviewing alternative locations, and information will be communicated as soon as we finalize.

COURT OF HONOR SEPTEMBER 26th – 4:00 PM (VENUE CHANGE)
Troop 41 will host our Fall Court of Honor to celebrate our scouts’ success and achievements.  The Court of Honor provides us an opportunity to applaud our sons’ activities and advancements, while giving the boys a chance to demonstrate their scouting spirit by supporting their fellow scouts.  Our Troop has been incredibly busy on advancement since our Spring COH, they earned a record 147 merit badges at Owasippe.  Come celebrate their awesome work, bring the entire family along to help recognize their many accomplishments while sharing fun and friendship.  PROGRAM CHANGE: The packet listed the location for this event at St. Petronille Parish Center, that is INCORRECT.  The event will be held at First Congregational Church in Pilgrim Hall at 4pm.

Our campout for this weekend at Warren Dunes in Sawyer Michigan has been cancelled due to lack of scout and adult participation.  This has always been an outstanding trip to an outstanding park, I’m sorry to have to cancel it, but it doesn’t make sense to take a group that couldn’t cover a baseball diamond.  If you signed up and paid for the trip, please email me to let me know if you’d like me to void your check or apply it to your son’s scout account.

OCTOBER MAQUOKETA CAVES CAMPOUT CANCELLED
A reminder that our October 8-10, 2010 trip to Maquoketa Caves State Park has been cancelled.  We are currently reviewing alternative locations, and information will be communicated as soon as we finalize.  The caves at Maquoketa Caves State Park are closed to help slow a disease known as white-nose syndrome that is killing bats across the eastern half of the United States.  The Iowa DNR closed state owned caves that are known to serve as bat hibernation sites.  Because our primary interest in going to this location was to explore the caves, we decided to cancel the trip there and look for another camping experience.
