Troop 41 is one of the oldest troops in DuPage County. And we’d like to think, one of the best. We have members from Glen Ellyn, Lombard and Wheaton. Our scouts are from a range of schools including Lincoln, Forest Glen, Ben Franklin and St. Petronille, Hadley Junior High, Glenbard West and Montini High Schools.
We are a boy led troop. This means that the boys all take part to varying degrees in the leadership, planning and running of the troop. The scouts build the meeting agendas and plan the scouting schedule. The adult leaders act as coaches providing direction and guidance to the scouts. The troop committee insures that the planned activities run smoothly, sufficient funding exists for scheduled activities and that funds are available for the maintenance and upkeep of troop equipment, such as tents and cooking gear.
Our goal for Troop 41 is to provide the best scouting program possible. We do this by creating continuous opportunities for learning and adventure. Scouts build skills in a variety of areas including problem solving, decision making and leadership. Good scouting programs promote high levels of self-confidence, independence, responsibility and self-reliance. There are the outcomes we strive for in Troop 41. Campouts are used to structure learning activities, work on rank advancement and have high levels of fun along the way. Our one-week summer camp experience is one of the finest available. Owasippe Summer Camp located in Whitehall, Michigan is the oldest and second largest scout camp in the country. It boasts over 5,000 acres, 21 lakes, 3 rivers and offers scouts a large variety of merit badge and scouting programs. Memories of a lifetime happen at Owasippe everyday. Be sure to join us for Owasippe Summer Camp.
